oooh!!! i see! well i suppose each frenchie "can" learn about at least 2 dialects: french and the regional language... exept the region "Ile de France" (where Paris is)... they only speak french. although the French government, during the 19th/20th century, did it's best to make every little french citizen to speak french, the national language, it succeeded so much bearly anyone now knows how to speak the regional languages... exept for old peaple perhaps... but it's starting to come back now with th de-centralization.

The problem here is, that in Wallonië, the part of my country that speaks French, they have this really bizarre dialect, and in school I learn just regular French. So even if I'd go there and try to talk to the people, it'd still be difficult to understand them. I think it's so lame.

than if you want to be able to speak the french you lean at school, you'll have to go somewhere near Paris. it's like everywhere, in every part of a country, even if it's the same laguage, there is the vocabulary and accent that change.

Yeah...or just go to the capital of Belgium, to Brussels, and then I'll be able to listen and speak quite a lot of French too.
